Ott Spiegel Gruner 2013

A profoundly peppery, expressive Grüner Veltliner from Wagram, a region in lower Austria that doesn't get as much press as it deserves. 

If every Wagram wine had a crazy earthy, savory bouquet like this 2013 Spiegel from Bernhard Ött, we'd probably hear about the region more. Ött's farming practices are as intensive as they come: full biodynamic viticulture, little to no plowing to improve soil health, and zero pesticides or herbicides.

Vinification takes place whole-cluster, somewhat of a rarity in Austria, and is partially done in large Stöckinger barrels and stainless steel tanks. Enjoy this luscious, green, smoky white wine with grilled fish, crab, or roasted vegetables.
