bottle study, vol 3: poulsard + pizza.

August 11th, 2025, 6:30-8:30 pm

hosted by Ezra and Jackson at Light Sleeper - Chophouse Row, Capitol Hill, Seattle

Bottle Study is a monthly series of tastings that will give us the opportunity to open up dope bottles in a small setting for learning, discussion and enrichment. taste with a Master Sommelier who can give illumination and background on some amazing bottles that are allocated, hard-to-find, or otherwise unattainable.

I wanted to showcase the wines of France's Jura and Savoie for this tasting. This region is wine geek central, both for the variety of wines on offer and for the niche, tiny producers only making a few barrels in their garage or basement. We'll be having some attainable-yet-amazing wines, and a few of the highly unobtainable ones *cough* Ganevat + Labet *cough* The cool thing about the Jura/Savoie is the range of crazy awesome flavors. You'll taste zippy bubbles, nutty whites with tons of complexity, and juicy reds with tons of tangy fruit. Prepare to learn and have your palate surprised.

This Bottle Study will be hosted by our friend Ezra at his restaurant Light Sleeper in Chophouse row on Capitol Hill. Ezra will be slinging pizzas for us, and sharing some bottles from his own collection. Arrival is from 6 onwards, with our tasting starting at 6:30.

This is a small round-table tasting that will allow for an intimate atmosphere where exploration, learning and questions are encouraged. Tickets are limited, as we intend it to keep this an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. This price includes the wine we'll be drinking, as well as some lovely pizza and salad made onsite at Light Sleeper.

Wines to be opened Monday the 11th (these are subject to small changes depending on stock, and there will most likely be another wine or two in the mix)

Domaine Giachino "Don Giachino" Jacquere Sparkling 2019

Julien Labet Chardonnay (vintage and cuvée TBD)

Ganevat Savagnin Sous Voile 2017

Domaine du Pelican "Trois Cepages" 2022

Domaine Tissot "Amphore" Poulsard 2022

Domaine Tissot "En Barberon" Pinot Noir 2020

+ more fun goodies! we just haven't totally finalized the list.

bringing a fun bottle to share is of course welcome, but never expected. I have been known to pop random fun things out of my own cellar for tastings like this, especially if the vibe is right!

Light Sleeper is located at 1424 11th Ave Suite D, Seattle, WA 98122 - street parking or rideshare recommended, as there is not really any dedicated parking.
