“Yes. That is an absolute yes,” I said as I had the first taste of this wine. I knew it had to go into the next shipment of Crunchy Red Fruit. I’m always thinking about food when I taste wine, and this is a distinctly food-inclined wine. Not just its balance, but its structure–acid and tannin and alcohol supporting each other nicely. This wine is a wine that teaches you about all three. Feel the firm and peppery grip of the tannins, the soft warmth of the alcohol, and the refreshing snap of the acidity cleaning your palate on the finish. This wine is a study in restraint, and in pure fruit, unmasked by winemaking tricks or additives. No oak, no wood chips, no BS.

This is Sangiovese as nature intended. This wine greets the nose with a load of tart cranberry and cherry notes, and the resinous cooking herbs that you typically smell in Sangiovese–think marjoram, fenugreek, and sage. A hint of sweet, freshly-picked heirloom tomato ties it all together.

This wine begs to be paired with food.
