Sandrone Aleste Barolo 2018

We're big fans of the statuesque and beautiful wines that Sandrone makes. Luciano has held the standard up for the last thirty years, and now his daughter Barbara is ruling the roost, continuing to create magic with their wonderful vineyard sites and careful, clean winemaking. They embody a great spirit in Piedmont that retains a purity of place and inspiration, but utilizes technology and cleanliness to see that vision through.

Aleste is the more recent name of the Sandrone Barolo bottling sourced entirely from the Cannubi vineyard. If Barolo had Grand Crus like Burgundy, then Cannubi would surely get first ticket-billing as one of the most memorable and special vineyard areas in the whole region. Situated on a beautiful ridgeline on the approach to the town of La Morra, Cannubi has a near-perfect slope and wonderful drainage to produce wines of immense character and concentration.
