The last time I saw Shannon Staglin, I was drinking Miller Hi-Life and eating a slice of pepperoni at Big Mario’s. Not what you think of when “Napa Luxury” pops into your head. But that’s what makes Staglin special. They may make some of the most sought-after and respected wines in Napa Valley, but they don’t let it go to their head. This Salus is a beautiful, structured and powerful Chardonnay that is firmly couched between old-school and new-school Napa styles.
